This is 1 out of many stupid comments made in reference to the tragedy in Japan. I’m glad I quit listening to his music when I turned 15. I am near my 30s now.
I don’t even know where to begin. I can’t even begin to understand how to evaluate the statement Karma for Japan. It has utterly left me speechless. This and This, has completely blown me away. Some people are seriously just that ignorant. I want to begin with addressing the Pearl Harbor issue. I am in no way defending Japan when it comes to Pearl Harbor. What their ancestors did was indeed wrong, but our ancestors weren’t any less guilty. The United States did retaliate and killed hundred and thousands of innocent civilians in Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Are the people who are raving, “This is Karma for Pearl Harbor” Unaware of that? So if Japan is being punished for what they did in Pearl Harbor what will America receive as punishment for what we did to Hiroshima & Nagasaki?
Also, it is such stupidity to say something like that. I mean remember that this is an entirely new generation of people. Also, the whaling comments. I am in no way defending Japan for their Whaling, but are we guilt free? We do eat livestock. We fish also? It’s not like our country doesn’t have it’s fair share of killing innocent Animals? Don’t even give me the argument of “Whales are mammals.” Does that justify killing any type of other animal?
Are these people seriously this stupid to make such rude and off colored comments towards a nation that is in desperate need of aid?
For those who are saying that Japanese people were never there for us .. you are beyond ignorant. Remember Hurricane Katrina? Well Remember this …
Japan has pledged more than $1.5 million in private donations. The government of Japan has donated $200,000 in cash to the American Red Cross and some $800,000 in relief supplies — from blankets to generators — already are arriving to aid the most needy. Japanese firms with operations in the United States have donated some $12 million in total, including Honda Motor Corporation ($5 million), Hitachi ($1 million) and Nissan (more than $750,000).
The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo was overwhelmed by the generosity of one Japanese individual — Takashi Endo — who donated $1 million from his personal funds to Katrina relief efforts. Endo said he was moved when, during a business trip to London, he saw a televised report about a mother separated from her children in the chaos of the flooding in New Orleans. The story so disturbed him he could not sleep that night; the next morning he resolved to do something to help.
Yuji Takahashi, president and chief executive officer of the Japan Petroleum Exploration Company Ltd., which has operations off the coast of Louisiana, donated $100,000 to U.S. federal government hurricane relief efforts. I am not writing this post because I am Japanese. I am not Japanese. I am actually an American. An American that cares about the image of my country. To those who are acting out of stupidity and posting these senseless remarks you are tainting our country’s image.
I don’t want to get so into detail because eventually some of my remarks will be offensive to someone if I have to dig deep into our roots to bring above the surface what our ancestors have done wrong. I am refusing to do so not only because I don’t wan to offend anyone, but because I don’t see the point in it. I don’t see the point in hurting someone else over something they didn’t CAUSE.
Remember the tragedy in Japan is affecting innocent people also. People who weren’t present when the bombing in Pearl Harbor took place. People who don’t condone whaling. People who are like you and I, trying to survive a day in this world.
By telling a country they deserve something tragic when they acted so graceful in our time of need is plain stupidity. I am becoming repetitive, because at this point I am so disappointed with some of my fellow American Citizens I simply have no other words to describe how horrible it feels.
You know why we get insulted so much? Because some of our people do things like this. Some of our people ignorantly speak out of cue. If you are going to be patriotic and tell Japan they deserve this for what they did in Pearl Harbor then you should warn the rest of us. What will be coming for us? We dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What will our karma be? I hate that I have to even state this, but I am simply trying to apply your logic to the situation.
If you think carefully back into history you will realize that we have done far more negative things in history then you are willing to admit. Before you go off saying Japan deserves this tragedy you should really open up a history book and read it. If you are unable to do so due to your incompetence then please at least do a Google search. You are at least capable of that right?
